IntroductionIn today's article, we'll explore a deck that showed up when OP14 was released and has remained strong to this day. Boa Hancock OP14-041 is an excellent midrange strategy that has performed consistently well in the East and the West.It focuses on interacting with your life points and exhausting enemy resources slowly and consistently while controlling the board.Boa Hancock OP14, the LeaderBoa Hancock OP14-041 is a Special, yellow/blue The Seven Warlords of the Sea/Kuja Pirates leader with 5000 power and 4 life. Its first effect works in the opponent's turn and draws a card for you whenever you play a character. It's pretty straightforward but actually makes the triggers in this list a lot more valuable. When you play a character through a trigger, you get an advantage because you essentially save up some DON!!, but with Boa this will also draw a card. Its second text, which costs DON!! x1, only works once per turn and when one of your Amazon Lily/Kuja Pirates with 5000 power or more is knocked out. In this case, you may force the opponent to get a card from their life pile and put it in their hand. It's a sort of burn effect that also punishes opponents for attacking. The DeckA player called OtoNeko brought this list to a Flagship event in Japan and won 5 straight rounds with it. It focuses a lot on the Amazon Lily and Kuja Pirates kit, but it also has space for other yellow cards that interact with your life points, triggers, and other stabilizing tools. Here it is:Initial SetupAs usual, you'll start by setting up your hand. Gloriosa (Grandma Nyon) OP14-103 is pretty critical. When you play it, it lets you get a card from the top or the bottom of your deck, then put a card from your hand in your life pile. You'll use this to set up your triggers, essentially, and progress your main game plan.Marguerite OP14-113 is this kit's main searcher. Once you play it, you'll get an Amazon Lily/Kuja Pirates card from the top 5 cards in your deck, put the rest at the bottom of your deck, and then discard a card. Discarding a card matters, but this deck does interact a bit with the trash pile, and that's good. Furthermore, Marguerite has a trigger that puts it in play, which makes it a lot better than a regular searcher.Boa Hancock ST17-004 also makes your turns pretty great. It is a blocker, lets you look at the top 3 cards in your deck and set them up at the bottom or keep them at the top, and gives a rested DON!! to a The Seven Warlords of the Sea card. This is incredible with your leader, as it enables its second effect.TriggersRan OP14-114 is one of the cards that best explains how this deck works. It can enter play through trigger, and, in your main phase, it gives a Kuja Pirates card a rested DON!!. It interacts really well with both of Boa Hancock OP14-041's effects.Gorgon Sisters OP14-105 is a bit heavy, but it is one of the strongest cards in this list. It lets you reveal 3 Amazon Lily or Kuja Pirates cards from your hand to give your leader and all your characters a rested DON!!. This type of effect will make a board that seemed defensive pretty aggressive, and all without spending resources directly.Satori OP05-105 has +2000 Counter and can also enter play through trigger if you discard a card from your hand. It doesn't do anything while it is in play, but it is so flexible that this doesn't matter. While it is in your hand, it will protect your life pile, can turn into a 5000-power body, and also draws a card when it enters play because of your leader.Mid gameShakuyaku OP14-107 will keep your hand going when the opponent has 3 life or less. It draws two cards and forces you to discard 2 cards when it comes in. You can also play it through trigger if you're playing a Kuja Pirates leader. It's perfect if you're constantly burning the opponent's life with your leader's effect, and this is exactly what this list does.Silvers Rayleigh OP14-108 is similar, but it's a removal. If you're playing a multicolored leader and the opponent has 3 life or less, it knocks out a character with 7000 power or less. Its trigger does the same, which means you can play it on the opponent's turn, particularly with cards that set up the top cards in your life pile. Unfortunately, you can only activate its On Play effect this way, and it won't leave a body behind.Borsalino EB04-058 is the big bad evil guy in the current meta. It's a blocker that has 6000 power, and, if you have 2 life or less, it gets a card from the top of your deck and puts it in your life pile when it enters play. This type of effect is great because Boa loses a lot of life throughout the game. After all, that is the best way to convert resources with this list. Borsalino will keep you healthy against decks that want to win as fast as possible.Healing EngineRoronoa Zoro OP15-113 is a pretty interesting addition from OP15. When it enters play, it lets you discard a card to get the top card in your deck and put it in your life pile. This will do more than heal you in this list because you'll certainly be able to activate a trigger, put another card in play as well as another body, and draw a card.Bartholomew Kuma OP12-119 plays a similar role. When it enters play, you may discard a card to get the top card in your deck and put it in your life pile.In the opponent's turn, when this card is knocked out, you may also get the top card in your deck and put it in your life pile, healing for a second time. Like so, this card is pretty annoying to remove and isn't the easiest target because it doesn't trigger the leader's burn effect. In this list, Gecko Moria OP14-104 is another body and another trigger, but it also lets you reuse resources. It doesn't exactly fit the Kuja kit perfectly. When its trigger resolves, you may put a character that costs 4 or less in play from the trash pile. It just does it directly, unlike its regular effect, which comes with a few restrictions. It is great in long matches when you can bring back Marguerite, Ran, Gloriosa, or even a ST17 Boa with it. You'll develop your board without spending any DON!!.The Top of the CurveBoa Hancock OP14-112 is the big, "top of the curve" card in this deck. Its On Play effect lets you get the top card from your deck and put it in your life pile, then forces the opponent to get the top card in their life pile and put it in their hand. It's a pretty drastic card because it increases your defenses and attacks the opponent at the same time. Its trigger is also excellent. It lets you play from your hand a character with 6000 power or less, which is great with many other cards in this list. It also enables your leader and draws a card if you do it in the opponent's turn. In many matches, Boa OP14-112 is the card that makes it clear that the opponent lost control of the "life points race".Edward.Newgate OP13-042 sees play in this list as a single copy because it's better in long matches. It is a blocker with 12000 power that draws two and discards one card when it enters. Then, it gives up to 2 rested DON!! to your leader and a character. It's pretty heavy, but it stabilizes your game plan and leaves a perfect beater in play at the same time. At one point, the match will just turn in your favor after you play this card.StrategiesEarly on, you want to set up your hand and life pile with Gloriosa (Grandma Nyon) OP14-103, Marguerite OP14-113, and Boa Hancock ST17-004. Gloriosa, in particular, allows you to follow up directly from the life pile and turn the first damage you deal into more board and cards through your leader's effect. I really like playing a Gorgon Sisters OP14-105 straight away, by the way.In the mid-game, Ran OP14-114, Gorgon Sisters OP14-105, Shakuyaku OP14-107, and Silvers Rayleigh OP14-108 will start creating a snowball over the life you'll lose and develop your board through triggers. The opponent will start thinking twice before attacking you directly because they might activate a trigger. They'll also struggle to attack your board and starve you because your leader's effect might force them to lose a life.In the late game, Boa Hancock OP14-112, Gecko Moria OP14-104, Edward.Newgate OP13-042, and Perfume Femur OP07-057 will finish it for you. This list can get some life back, put pressure on the opponent's life, build the board, and even hold off attacks with blockers and events. This is not a blue list like Buggy OP09-052, which is pretty traditional. The blue cards in this list support the yellow game plan that centers around triggers, putting bodies in play, and punishing the opponent.Final WordsThis is a pretty good deck, and it will hardly go out of style. Yellow is pretty popular and will remain so when the next set, OP16, comes along, so having a trustworthy deck like this one can be really helpful if you want to perform well at high-level tournaments. It is not, unfortunately, that budget-friendly. Borsalino EB04-058, for instance, is pretty expensive. What do you think?
